ALL WE ARE SAYING ...

Burbank Noon Lions celebrate the Crystal Anniversary of their

national Peace Poster contest today at Burbank Central Library. The

awards ceremony begins at 4 p.m. and friends and guests are invited

to attend. This year’s theme is “Dream of Peace” and all 11- to

13-year-olds attending Burbank public schools or participating in

activities at the Burbank Boys and Girls Club were eligible to

express their feelings about peace in a creative, visual form.

Entries are judged in three categories: portrayal of theme,

artistic merit and originality. Burbank Noon Lions will present a $50

savings bond certificate to winners. Every Burbank participant will

receive a participation award following the ceremony.

Four winners in the Burbank level of judging will also be able to

participate in a private instructional-drawing session with Charles

Zembillas, founder of The Animation Academy in Burbank. Following the

award ceremony, the remaining posters will be on display in the

Children’s Room of the Central Library and the winning ones will go

on to the next level of judging. One national grand-prize winner will

receive $2,500 and a trip to New York to attend Lions Day at the

United Nations 2003. After the final national awards presentation,

the 24 winning posters will be displayed at the Children’s Museum and

attractions throughout the United States.
