Roberta Moody of Burbank celebrated her 80th birthday Dec. 22 at a
party at the Crystal View Lounge of the Burbank Holiday Inn -- Media
City Center. Her children were hosts for the celebration.
Attending were her five children and their spouses; Jerry and
Sharon (Moody) Mittelholtz of Santa Paula, Larry and Kathleen (Moody)
Constantine of Camarillo, Tom and Marilyn (Moody) Richer of Spokane,
Wash., Ken Moody and his wife, Susan, of Palmdale and Marjorie
(Moody) Fuchs of Burbank.
Her siblings at the party were Mary Bogard of Irvine, Doris Carter
of Hollywood Hills and Allen Roten and his wife, Ethel, of Lincoln,
Calif.
Also attending were 10 of Roberta’s 11 grandchildren, their
spouses and five of her six great-grandchildren. Other guests wishing
her well were co-workers from Emerson and Washington elementary
schools’ children’s centers, where she is employed as a typist clerk.
Al Moody, Roberta’s husband of 60 years, was unable to attend
because of illness.
Born in Ft. Collins, Colo., Roberta moved to Burbank with her
parents and siblings in 1932. She lived there with her family until
she married in 1942.
During the early 1940s, Roberta and Al moved from Burbank for
three years only to return in 1945. Since then, they have lived in
Burbank in the same house for more than 50 years.
Roberta attended Lincoln Elementary School and John Muir Junior
High School, graduating from Burbank High School in 1940. Her
children also attended Burbank schools with all five graduating from
John Burroughs High School, where two of her grandchildren attend.
Madison Quinn Robledo, 8, recently passed her Tae Kwon Do Black
Belt test.
She has been attending the Ultimate Tae Kwon Do Center in Burbank
for nearly two years studying with Grand Master Jin H. Lee. His
method of teaching is to inspire youngsters to not only be good Tae
Kwon Do students, but good citizens as well.
Madison is the daughter of Ronald J. and Vicki Robledo of Burbank.
She is in the third grade at Bret Harte Elementary School.
Armenian-Iranian international singer, Andy Andranik Madadian, who
started his career in Glendale more than two decades ago, received a
Mayor’s commendation for his contribution to music industry in a
ceremony at the City Council meeting Dec. 10.
The singer also received an achievement award presented by city of
Los Angeles in November, initiated by honorable council member Eric
Garcetti.
Andy plays to sold-out venues all over the United States, Europe,
Canada, Australia, Russia and the Middle East. In the United States,
he has played for the last three years to critical acclaim at the
Greek Theatre, Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles and The Alex
Theatre in Glendale. He was named Persian Pop Male Singer of the
Decade and for three years in a row, he has received the coveted Best
Armenian International Singer, Best Armenian World Artist and Best
Armenian World Album awards.
