Burbank offense shines, 8-0
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Burbank 8, San Gabriel 0: Carolyn Chrzan had a hat trick Wednesday
in leading the visiting Bulldogs to a nonleague victory.
Chrzan has scord 12 goals.
Burbank also got a fine performance from Abby Castellon, who
tallied two goals. Castellon has scored 10 goals. Teammates Jeanette
Gonzalez, Lilliana Morales and Emily Hom added goals.
Burbank 3, Pasadena 2: Caroline Chrzan scored in the 63rd minute
Tuesday to lead the Bulldogs to a nonleague victory at Burbank High.
Abby Castellon got Burbank on the board with a goal in the 13th
minute.
Barbara Villegas had six saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
“We should have scored a lot more goals in this one,” Burbank
Coach Savio Silveria said.
Valencia 4, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs opened Foothill League play
Friday with a loss at home.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Burbank Burroughs 62, Littlerock 60: Peter St. Hubert made a layup
with seven seconds to play Monday to lift host Burroughs to a
nonleague win at home.
St. Hubert finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
Joey Paysinger led Burroughs with 24 points and four assists.
It was a close contest in the first half -- with Burroughs
trailing, 29-27 -- before the Indians turned it up a notch in the
second half. In the third quarter, Burroughs outscored Littlerock,
20-11.
Burbank 75, San Gabriel 56: Brandon Maskell poured in 23 points,
had six rebounds, four assists and three steals Wednesday to lead the
Bulldogs to a nonleague win at home.
Burbank began the game on a 20-10 first-quarter spurt. The team
increased its lead to 39-23 at halftime.
Kamen Lane scored 16 points, John Ballas added 10 points and six
rebounds and Eduard Khudanyan had 10 points.
Burbank junior varsity 67, San Gabriel junior varsity 53: A big
performance from Serob Hannesyan onWednesday helped the Bulldogs to a
nonleague win.
Hannesyan had 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Teammate
Eric Thrasher added 10 points.
Burbank junior varsity 91, Bell-Jeff junior varsity 48: The
Bulldogs had no problem turning back the Guards on Jan. 3 in a
nonleague game.
Serob Hannesyan had 24 points, Mark Voorhis added 16 and Eric
Thrasher had 15.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Windward 54, Providence 41: The Pioneers dropped their first
Liberty League game Tuesday with a loss on the road.
Bell-Jeff 59, Notre Dame Academy 33: Jennae Peoples had 20 points,
14 rebounds, eight assists and six steals Tuesday to lead host
Bell-Jeff to a Sunshine League victory.
Julie Van Dyke added nine points and Andrea Mprgan had six
rebounds and six blocks.
The Guards jumped to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and
increased the advantage to 35-13 at halftime.
