Poster winners recognized at school board meeting
Three Monterey High School students, winners of the 2002
Anti-Tobacco student poster contest, will be honored at the school
board meeting Thursday night in City Council chambers.
Tenth-grader Marco Herrera was the first-place winner, 12th-grader
Sarah Estrada captured second place and 10th-grader Britney Contreras
received the third-place award.
About 800 entries were received from the city’s three public high
schools, said Terry Scott, Burroughs High School health and career
teacher.
The three students will receive cash prizes. Ten semi-finalists
will receive AMC Theater tickets.
Copies of the winning posters will be made by Patterson Graphics
for display in classrooms at the three high schools.
