Train wreck cost at $3 million
Damage cost estimates caused by the recent MetroLink train
derailment top $3 million, officials said.
In the Jan. 6 incident, a passenger train collided with a truck at
the intersection of Buena Vista Street and San Fernando Boulevard.
Jacek Wysocki, 63, the driver of the truck was killed and several
others were injured.
The damage to the MetroLink rail cars was $2.85 million, Burbank
Fire Marshal Dave Starr said. The cost in damage to the signal system
was $46,000. Damage repair to the tracks was estimated at $55,000.
Those costs do not include city overtime expenses, investigation and
city-contracted ambulance services, Starr said.
