Autopsy results pending for man who collapsed in jail

Toxicology tests on a man who died while in po- lice custody

aren’t due for about 90 days, coroner’s officials said.

Daniel James Bryan, 40, of Palmdale died at Providence St. Joseph

Medical Center on Jan. 5 after being arrested earlier that day.

Police arrested Bryan on suspicion of having pictures of nude

children in his car and resisting arrest in the 3000 block of West

Magnolia Boulevard.

They believe Bryan had a diabetic condition but he had been

cleared for booking by a physician at Providence St. Joseph Medical

Center, police said. When they brought him back to the city jail, he

was al- legedly uncooperative during booking. At one point, he col-

lapsed and was taken back to the hospital, where he died, police

said. Police believe Bryan might have ingested drugs before being

detained.
