Burroughs, Saugus end in scoreless tie

BOYS’ SOCCER

Burroughs 0, Saugus 0: The Indians played well but could only

manage a tie Friday in a Foothill League match at Saugus.

Burroughs has yet to score in three league matches to start the

season.

Hart 4, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs were left still looking for their

first goal in Foothill League play Tuesday with a loss at Burbank.

Canyon 2, Burroughs 0: Despite playing well, the Indians were

defeated Tuesday in a Foothill League match at Luther Burbank Middle

School.

“We definitely had our chances,” Burroughs Coach Mike Kodama said.

“Our defense played well, and our offense was moving the ball. We

just couldn’t finish our chances.”

Jason Salazar had nine saves in goal for Burroughs.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Hart 2, Burbank 0: A penalty kick awarded to the Indians in the

second half Tuesday helped Hart gain a Foothill League victory.

The Bulldogs played well and the score was tied at 0 after the

fist half.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Hart 93, Burbank 34: The Bulldogs had a tough time Tuesday in a

Foothill League loss to the Indians.

Canyon 72, Burroughs 62: Despite good games from Peter St. Hubert

and Joey Paysinger, the Indians were defeated Tuesday in a Foothill

League game on the road.

St. Hubert had 16 points and Paysinger added 15. Kris Jones had 10

points.

Buckley 75, Providence 69: The Pioneers missed a chance to hold on

to first place in the Liberty League Tuesday with a loss on the road.

The Pioneers were hampered by a second quarter in which they were

outscored, 16-10.

Ian Breckenridge-Jackson paced the Pioneers with 22 points.

Teammate Harout Messrelian added 19 and Tommy Boucher had nine.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Hart 69, Burbank 34: The Bulldogs had no answer for Amanda Patton

and her 21 points Tuesday, as they fell in the Foothill League game

at home.

Canyon 49, Burroughs 40: The Indians lost their second straight

Foothill League game Tuesday, falling at Burroughs.

The Indians were outscored, 29-21, in the second half.

Playing without top player Tulyah Gaines -- who was nursing a hand

injury -- Burroughs received 18 points from Janette Galindo and eight

from Shannon Davies.
