JOHN EDWARD HODES

John Edward Hodes, 71, died Jan. 20, 2003.

Born Dec. 29, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo., he worked as an aircraft

welder for 15 years and lived in Burbank for four years.

Mr. Hodes is survived by his wife, Estela Renteria; his sons,

Robert and John; and daughter, Stephanie.

The burial Mass was Friday at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic

Church.

REFUGIO V. PEREZ

Refugio V. Perez, 77, died Jan. 27, 2003, in Burbank.

Born Oct. 18, 1925, in Guanajuato, Mexico, she lived in Burbank

for 30 years.

The burial Mass is at 10 a.m. today at the St. Finbar Catholic

Church, 2010 W. Olive Ave. Interment follows at San Fernando Mission

Cemetery, 11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills.

LUCILE THOMPSON

Lucile Thompson, 91, died Jan. 28, 2003, in Burbank.

Born Sept. 22, 1911, in Waterville, Kan., she was a 57-year

resident of Burbank who worked as a nursery school teacher at First

United Methodist Church for 20 years. She was also a Order of Eastern

Star member.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Sandra.

Memorial services are at 2 p.m. today at the First United

Methodist Church, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations

can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

JEAN N. VALENTE

Jean N. Valente, 84, died Jan. 27, 2003, in Burbank.

Born in Duquesne, Penn., she was a 54-year resident of Burbank.

She worked for many years as a pharmacy clerk at Thrifty’s.

Mrs. Valente is survived by her husband, Victor; son, Dan Cassidy;

daughter, Rebecca Lyons; nine grandchildren; and 14

great-grandchildren.

The memorial service is at 11 a.m. Feb. 8 at the First United

Methodist Church of Burbank, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Valente’s name

to the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1441 Eastlake Ave., Room 8302, Los Angeles, CA 90089-9181.
