Memorial for aviation pioneer Sunday
AIRPORT DISTRICT -- Aviation fans are invited to attend a
celebration Sunday of pioneering female aviator Evelyn “Bobbi” Trout,
who died at 97 on Jan. 24.
Family and friends from around the country are expected to pay
their respects to Trout, who made legendary flights in the late 1920s
and early 1930s over Burbank and Glendale. She made Glendale, Burbank
and Toluca Lake her home at various times.
The service is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Hangar 34 at
Burbank-Pasadena-Glendale Airport. The hangar is on the north side of
the airport next to the Fire Department Hangar. It can be accessed
from the intersection of Sherman Way and Clybourn Avenue. Free valet

Two armed men rob gas station
MEDIA DISTRICT NORTH -- A Burbank gas station was robbed by two
men armed with a handgun, who fled to a waiting car near the Golden
State (5) Freeway.
The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Union 76
station near the corner of Buena Vista Street and San Fernando Road,
police said. Two men estimated to be in their late teens or early 20s
entered the store wearing black hooded sweatshirts. One of the men
pulled a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk.
After taking the cash, the men ran to a car waiting on a nearby
freeway overpass and drove away, police said.
