Industry awards scholarships

BURBANK -- Charter Communications and the Southern California

Cable & Telecommunications Assn. are accepting applications for their

2003 scholarship program.

For the seventh consecutive year, scholarships ranging from $2,500

to $25,000 will be awarded to high school seniors who wish to pursue

a career in the cable and telecommunications industry.

Application forms are available by visiting the association’s Web

site at www.sccta.org. Applicants must submit an essay on their plans

for a future in this industry. Winners will be selected based on

essay composition, grade-point average, and a willingness to make a

positive contribution to their community.

Applications must be received by mail no later than 5 p.m. March

21 at the association’s office, 1070 E. Orange Grove Ave.

The scholarships will be awarded at each recipient’s high school

awards night in May.

Since the program’s inception in 1997, 30 scholarships totaling

$150,000 have been awarded.
