Foothill Civitan named state district governor

Burbank resident and Foothill Civitan Club member John Stroud has

been chosen to serve as the California district governor for 2003-04.

The term begins in October and to prepare, Stroud attended the

Civitan In- ternational’s Governors- elect Academy in Birmingham,

Ala.

Foothill Civitan Club meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth

Tuesday of every month. The first meeting is at the Tuttle Senior

Center, 1731 Ontario St., and the second one is at The Castaway, 1250

NOON KIWANIS SPONSOR PATRIOTIC CONTESTS

For seven years, the Burbank Noon Kiwanis has sponsored a student

Patriotic Poster and Photo Contest. The contest is in conjunction

with the group’s annual Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance program on

Flag Day. The formal ceremony is June 14, but for more information,

call Sam Engel at 848-9560.

BURBANK NOON ROTARY CELEBRATES 80 YEARS

Burbank Noon Rotary commemorated its 80-year anniversary last

month by dedicating two benches for the Stough Park Nature Trail.

Several members were on hand to join in the festivities and light

refresh- ments were served afterward.

A LITTLE BLARNEY FOR A GOLDEN CAUSE

Burbank Civitan Club hosts its 32nd annual St. Patrick’s Day

Champagne Brunch and silent auction this month. The emerald-laden

event raises money for the mentally disadvantaged by donating the

proceeds to the Burbank Center for the Retarded, the Special Olympics

and the Civitan International Research Center.

This year’s brunch is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the

Starlight Room of The Castaway. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased

by calling Morey Goodstein at 848-7189. Children younger than 5 are

free.

Burbank Civitan Club meets at 7:30 p.m. the second and fourth

Thursday of every month at the Coral Cafe, 3321 W. Burbank Blvd. For

BURBANK ELKS’ OLDIES BUT GOODIES

Burbank Elks Lodge No. 1497 had an Old Timers Night to honor its

longtime members.

Those recognized for 60 years of service were Virgil Morgan and

John Gaudioso; 55 years: Harry Grable; 50 years: Joseph J. McKeon,

Robert L. Greeninger, Jerry V. Flock and Max C. Crane; 45 years:

Robert W. Tyler, Delbert Stene and Donald E. Boggs, Sr.; and 40

years: Henry J. Warnock.

Burbank Elks Lodge No. 1497 meets at 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the
