Relay benefits American Cancer Society

Mayor David Laurell, the Relay For Life Volunteer Committee and

the American Cancer Society are coordinating volunteers for the first

Burbank Relay For Life.

One weekend this summer, more than 1,000 Burbank residents will

take turns walking or running around a track to raise funds for

cancer research, community education, legislative advocacy and

patient service programs. Relay For Life is a 24-hour event that

empowers the community to take part in the fight against cancer while

honoring its survivors and remembering loved ones lost to the

disease.

Those interested in volunteering for the committee to plan the

event can attend the Relay Rally from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the

Burbank Discovery Shop, 500 N. Victory Blvd.

For more information, call Samantha Rosen, volunteer chairwoman,

at 841-2964 or Evelyn Silverman, relay manager, at 841-2994.
