Man suspected of following 3 kids

BURBANK -- A man arrested earlier this week on suspicion of

following a girl on her way to Luther Burbank Middle School has been

charged with additional crimes.

Gabriel B. Ramirez, a 23-year-old North Hollywood man, is facing

five counts of child annoyance, police said. He allegedly followed

three girls on their way to the school at various times in the week

prior to his arrest. After receiving reports about a man following

children, police patrolled the area Monday and arrested Ramirez at

7:45 a.m.

As of late Friday, Ramirez was being held at the Twin Towers

Correctional Facility in Los Angeles on $100,000 bail.

While he did not approach any of the children, Sgt. Bruce Speirs

said police were particularly concerned because Ramirez was

persistently targeting the children.

Man accidentally shoots girlfriend

HILLSIDE DISTRICT -- A 25-year-old Burbank man accidentally shot

his girlfriend early Friday morning as he was attempting to

investigate a suspected prowler.

The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 600 block of East

Orange Grove Avenue. The couple was asleep when they heard a noise

inside the home, police said. The man reached for a revolver by the

side of the bed but fumbled with it, accidentally pulling the

trigger and shooting his girlfriend, a 21-year-old Burbank woman, in

the thigh.

The bullet entered and exited the woman’s thigh, and police said

the injury was not life-threatening.

No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
