TRACK AND FIELD

Pasadena Games: Burroughs and Burbank athletes did well Saturday

in the meet at Pasadena City College.

The Indians received a fine race from Carolyn Brown, who won the

girls’ 1,600 in a school record 5 minutes 9.57 seconds. She ran the

final two laps in a blistering 2:26.

Teammate Tulyah Gaines placed second in the girls’ triple jump (34

feet 7) and was sixth in the long jump (16-2 1/2) and Aaron Floyd was

second in the boys’ triple jump (42-1).

In the 1,600 relay, Sean Allen, Sean Lowe, Matt Welch and David

Brooks were second in their heat in 3:30 and Mike Ortega was fourth

in the pole vault (12-6). Brooks also finished third in his heat of

the 300 hurdles (41.47).

The Bulldogs’ Kyle Ivie finished seventh in the 3,200 (9:32) and

teammate Stratos Christianakis was eighth (9:32).

SOFTBALL

Eagle Rock 10, Providence 3: The Pioneers fell Saturday in the

consolation round of the Pasadena Westridge Tournament.

Danielle Austin was two for four and Marlene Marcos delivered a

run-scoring single for Providence.

Pioneer pitcher Lauren Suedkamp was injured when she was hit in

the helmet by a ball that caught her jaw.
