Shelley Renee Rutkoske and Jesus Varela Jr. of Aliso Viejo have

announced their engagement and will marry in July in Laguna Beach.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Betty Rutkoske of Burbank.

She graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish

and political science. She earned her master’s in education and her

reading specialist credential from Cal State Fullerton.

She is employed as a first-grade teacher in Tustin.

The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Maria and Jesus Varela of El

Centro.

He graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in

criminology. He is employed as the corporate recruiting manager for

ICN Pharma- ceuticals in Costa Mesa.
