Colorful Easter eggs, candy, toys, prizes and valuable coupons will
be hidden throughout Johnny Carson Park on Saturday, just waiting for
boys and girls to find them at the fifth annual Easter Eggs-plosion
of Fun.
“There’s tons of gift certificates from local businesses,” said
Kristen Smith, recreation supervisor of the city’s Park, Recreation
and Community Services Department, of the goodies inside the eggs.
The festivities are a joint venture of the department and KDIS,
Radio Disney AM 1110. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This year, Binney and Smith’s Crayola, a staple of childhood
artistic expression, celebrates a century of color. The Crayola
Art-rageous Adventure, a 25-city bus tour, will make a stop at the
park where children can take home gift bags containing Crayola
products and coupons.
“It’s a free, fun festival for the whole family,” Radio Disney
producer Natalie Eig said.
Stanley, the cartoon character from Playhouse Disney, will make a
special appearance this year, Eig said. Joining Stanley will be the
Power Rangers from the new Power Rangers Ninja Storm, she added.
Families can also enjoy the Easter Bonnet Parade. Participants
will make their bonnets at home and wear them to the park, Smith
said. Other events include the egg-toss contest, the Bunny Hop Clinic
and photos with the Easter Bunny for $3, Smith said.
Giant inflatable rides, face painting and a children’s activities
area will keep children amused. The Police and Fire departments,
along with the animal shelter and the California Highway Patrol, will
host booths to offer safety tips for children, Smith said.
