Local student invited to Washington conference
Roland Dimaya, 16, will attend the National Student Leadership
Conference on Medicine and Health Care from July 31 to Aug. 10 in
Washington, D.C.
Roland, a sophomore at Oakwood School in North Hollywood, received
an invitation to attend the conference because of his outstanding
scholastic achievement and community service. The conference’s
mission is to identify and recognize outstanding young leaders from
around the world, and to provide them with a unique learning
environment that encourages not only academic achievement, but also
diversity, cooperation and social responsibility.
At the conference, Roland will join about 1,500 other high school
students from across the United States and 45 countries. During their
10-day stay, the students will attend special leadership workshops
and classes. They will hear from guest speakers, including Pentagon
and White House officials.
