Chair purchase wasn’t in city’s best interest
I was saddened when I read the article about the city purchasing new
chairs for the City Council chamber. To think that $12,000 in Burbank
taxpayer money went to 12 chairs is a disgusting and vile thought.
Chairs? When the city is facing an almost $9 million deficit? The
wisest direction they could find to throw $12,000 dollars is ...
chairs?
That might have housed a homeless person for a year, fed some
hungry people for a long time, bought some materials and supplies for
schools, helped with medical supplies and services for those without
insurance -- any number of worthy causes besides some chairs for
already overpaid city officials.
I’m sure any kid would have something to say, if they could read.
But they don’t seem to have enough teachers or books. The working
stiff would probably have something to say, but he’s too busy being
sick from lack of proper health care. And the homeless person in the
alley behind City Hall, he’ll sleep well knowing everyone inside is
resting comfortably in their $12,000 chairs.
