RSVP seeks group support leaders

BURBANK -- The Retired Senior Volunteer Program is seeking

bilingual volunteers 55 and older to become group support leaders for

the Alzheimer’s Assn. of Los Angeles County.

Volunteers will lead support groups for caretakers of local people

with dementia.

A leader should possess a desire to help people in a caretaker’s

role, the ability to interact with many people at one time, and the

ability to leave biases and judgments “at the door.” Leaders should

also have the confidence to let the group lead itself, and be

familiar with Alzheimer’s disease and general caretakers’ issues.

For more information, contact Amy Corwin at the Alzheimer’s Assn.

at (323) 938-3379, ext. 242.
