A man threatening to jump from the Holiday Inn, 150 E. Angeleno Ave.,

was grabbed by police after spending nearly an hour perched on the

building’s exterior. Steven Shaddix, a 37-year-old Burbank man,

climbed onto the outside ledge of the hotel from the 12th-floor

stairwell at 11:04 a.m., police said. Officers at the scene said

Shaddix, who was depressed about the breakup of a personal

relationship, was delusional and recently ran away from a drug-

rehabilitation center. He climbed along ledges and rails outside the

building to the 16th floor and then to the 20th floor. Police closed

Tujunga Avenue, First Street and Angeleno Avenue for nearly an hour

as negotiators tried to talk to Shaddix. At 11:55 a.m., Shaddix moved

close enough for two officers to grab him and pull him inside. He was

taken to Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar for a psychiatric

evaluation, police said.
