Screenwriting seminar Wednesdays

MEDIA CITY CENTER -- Screenwriters looking to refine their craft

can join a free monthly group led by Berkeley Hunt, who has worked

for Village Road Show Pictures and New Line Cinema and Television.


The group, which meets the second Wednesday of the month, will

focus this week on special genres and unique problems encountered

when working on a screenplay.

The group meets at 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 731 N. San Fernando

Bookshop holds signing event

NORTHWEST DISTRICT -- Steve Niles will sign his latest graphic

novel at 2 p.m. May 17 at Dark Delicacies bookstore, 4213 W. Burbank


Niles’ last work, “30 Days of Night,” was optioned by director Sam

Raimi for a film. Graphic novels are similar to long-form comic

books, according to the bookstore’s owners.
