Local florists win awards at annual headdress gala
Floral designers from the Burbank and La Canada Flintridge areas
received top awards in the 65th annual Las Floristas Floral Headdress
Ball on April 25 at Merv Griffin’s Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly
Hills.
Husband and wife Vynss and Lisa Gonzales of Burbank designed the
Judges’ Trophy winner “Simply Elegant,” worn by Mary Dalton-Mills.
The Gonzales couple dedicated their headdress to longtime Las
Floristas member and Toluca Lake resident Carolyn Flynn, who died in
1999.
Attending the event were Flynn’s daughter and son-in-law Penny
Flynn Hood and Don Hood.
Jade Higgins modeled the President’s Trophy winner, “China’s
Golden Age,” created by florists Don Davidson of La Canada Flintridge
and Miguel Alcaraz.
The Sweepstakes trophy went to “Martinique Chic” designed by Frank
Garcia and modeled by Tomilee Gill.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Las Floristas Children’s
Charities, affiliated with the USC Keck School of Medicine, at Rancho
Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.
