Airport celebrates its history
AIRPORT DISTRICT -- The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport will
host a 73rd anniversary open house to honor the city’s contribution
to 100 years of aviation history.
The Lockheed Constellation and the Ford Tri-Motor will be among
the planes on display from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 31 at Hangar 34. The
entry road is at Sherman Way and Clybourn Avenue. Call 840-8840 for

Bowman keynote speaker at breakfast
HILLSIDE DISTRICT -- The Burbank Community Foundation and the
Burbank Partnership Advisory Council will host the first State of the
School Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at The Castaway. District
Supt. Gregory Bowman will deliver the keynote address.
The foundation will award scholarships to graduates of Burbank
high schools to assist them with vocational education and training in
nursing, graphic design, auto mechanics and information technology.
Tickets are $20 each, and include a buffet breakfast. To make
reservations or for more information, call the Burbank Chamber of
Commerce at 846-3111.

University Women present scholarships
MAGNOLIA PARK -- Burbank University Women presented scholarships
to four Burbank students at the club’s annual scholarship dinner.
Burbank High School seniors Amanda Lopez and Kelly Brown,
Bellarmine-Jefferson High School senior Robin De Leonardis and
Burroughs High School senior Laura Lynne Davy each received a $500
scholarship from the women’s group.
Each of the recipients, who attended Thursday’s dinner at Genio’s
restaurant with their parents, gave a short talk about their future
plans.
New club officers were also installed. They are: Jean Bannigan,
president; Dorothy Henry, first vice president; Rose Essics, second
vice president; Katy Work, secretary and Bea Bowker, treasurer.
