Burbank students awarded for overcoming adversity

Three students from John Burroughs High School and four students from

Burbank High School are this year’s recipients of the “Catch a

Falling Star” achievement award. This award is given to teenagers who

have chosen hard work to overcome failing grades due to personal

difficulties.

At a luncheon Thursday at the Holiday Inn, 10th-grader Christina

Mierow, 11th-grader Edgar Angel, 12th-grader Amanda Montel of

Burroughs High School and ninth-grader Kyle David, 10th-grader

Adriana Quintana, 11th-grader Sunny Mills and 12th-grader Adriana

Gonzales of Burbank High School were each awarded a $50 savings bond

and a three-month gift certificate to the Burbank Family YMCA.

The Burbank Noon Lions, Burbank Family YMCA and counselors at both

high schools sponsor this event.
