Burbank residents named California Arts Scholars
Katherine Morin, 15, a ninth-grader studying theater arts at Marshall
Magnet School in Los Angeles, and Daniela Stitz, 17, an 11th-grader
studying visual arts at Oakwood High School in North Hollywood, were
awarded the Governor’s Arts Scholar medallions.
Katherine and Daniela are among 520 California high school
scholars statewide to be honored for their accomplishments in the
arts. The Burbank teenagers received their awards at a ceremony
Friday hosted by Paramount Pictures.
The Governor’s Award recognizes students who have been selected to
attend InnerSpark, the month-long California State Summer School for
the Arts program.
This summer InnerSpark will be from July 12 through Aug. 9 at the
California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.
The program, funded through a partnership between the public and
private sectors, was established 17 years ago by the state
legislature and signed into law by Gov. George Deukmejian.
