VITA A. CARONE

Vita A. Carone, 83, died May 19, 2003, in Burbank.

She was born Jan. 24, 1920, in Chicago and was a longtime Burbank

resident.

She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.

Mrs. Carone is survived by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Mary

Ellen Wetkowski; and three grandchildren.

The funeral Mass and interment were Friday in Rockford, Ill.

Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service was in charge of direction.

ALYCE JANE WILSON DREESSEN

Alyce Jane Wilson Dreessen, 93, died May 31, 2003, in Sierra

Madre.

She was born Nov. 25, 1909, in Sedalia, Mo., and lived in Burbank

for 45 years.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in

Burbank.

Mrs. Dreessen is survived by her sons, Howard and Marshall Wilson;

and three grandchildren.

The memorial service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at the aforementioned

church, 521 E. Olive Ave. The private interment follows at Forest

Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

MARIA FORTUN

Maria Fortun, 94, died May 30, 2003, in Burbank.

She was born Nov. 2, 1908, in Cuba and lived in Burbank for 36

years.

Mrs. Fortun is survived by her daughter, Maria Suarez; four

grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial is at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis

Xavier Catholic Church, 3801 Scott Road. The interment follows at

Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

Valley Funeral Home is in charge of direction.

PHILLIP JAMES SCOTT

Phillip James Scott, 75, died May 30, 2003.

He was born Nov. 6, 1927, in St. Louis and worked in Burbank for

20 years.

Mr. Scott served in the Merchant Marines and was part of the Armed

Forces Radio Network during World War II.

He worked as a cameraman for CBS before switching careers and

opening a law practice in Burbank.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing and gourmet cooking.

Mr. Scott is survived by his son, Vance; daughter, Ellen Plugge;

stepson, Andrew Jones; stepdaughter Laurie Ward; 12 grandchildren;

and three great-grandchildren.

The memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley Funeral Home,

2121 W. Burbank Blvd. The interment follows at Forest Lawn Hollywood

Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

SUSAN ZIEMER

Susan Ziemer, 74, died May 29, 2003, in Glendale.

She was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Vienna and lived in Burbank for

more than 30 years.

Mrs. Ziemer worked as a registered nurse for more than 20 years at

Glendale Adventist Medical Center and as a marriage, family and child

counseling therapist for the Verdugo Mental Health Center for more

than 15 years.

She is a Nazi concentration camp survivor and lectured local

school children for more than 15 years about her experience. She was

also involved with the Burbank Human Relations Council.

Mrs. Ziemer is survived by her husband, Larry Birchard; daughters,

Janet Ciel and Barbara Conner; sons, Mark, Matthew and Daniel Ziemer;

and six grandchildren.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Sinai Memorial

Parks and Mortuaries, 6150 Mt. Sinai Drive, Hollywood Hills.
