Ponce named federal security director
Luz Ponce has been named federal security director for the
Burbank-Glen- dale-Pasadena Airport, according to news reports.
Ponce will fill a position that has been vacant since Madeline
Sawyer resigned in January. Sawyer oversaw the hiring and training of
more than 200 federal baggage screeners, but left the post after less
than five months to serve as a division manager in the Federal
Aviation Administration’s Western Pacific region.
Ponce, who was the airport’s assistant federal security director,
has been serving as acting director since Sawyer’s resignation. She
could not be reached for comment late Thursday.
