City pools open today for summer

The summer swim season begins today at McCambridge Recreation Center

pool and Verdugo Park pool. The pools will be open from 1 to 5 p.m.

on Saturday and Sunday and 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays.

The McCambridge pool will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on the Fourth


of July, but the Verdugo pool will be closed.

McCambridge will be closed for recreational swimming on Aug. 13

when it hosts the annual Water Carnival Day. The last day of swimming

is Aug. 31 at Verdugo, and Sept. 1 at McCambridge.


This summer, in addition to recreational swimming, both pools will

offer classes and Excel, the competition swim team.

Recreational swimming admission for residents is $1 for kids 12

and under; $1.50 for students 13 to 18; $4 for ages 19 to 59; and $2 for those 60 and older.

McCambridge Recreation Center and pool is at 1515 N. Glenoaks Blvd. Verdugo Park and pool is at 3201 W. Verdugo Ave.
