Assemblyman Dario Frommer (D-Burbank) ushered in the first day of

summer with a community block party at Johnny Carson Park on

Saturday. Despite dreary skies and cool temperatures, an estimated

2,000 people attended the event, which the legislator hosted for the

second straight year. Those who turned out got a chance to meet and

speak with Frommer, as well as state Sen. Jack Scott (D-Burbank).

There was free food, music and entertainment, appearances by Miss

Burbank, Kareen Dickson, and Miss Teen Burbank, Aijia Guttman, along

with games, arts and crafts, and face painting. Several community

organizations and city departments were represented at the party,

including the Burbank Police and Fire departments, the Boys & Girls

Club of Burbank, Burbank Department of Water & Power, Friends of the

Burbank Public Library, Joslyn Adult Center, Media Dance Centre,

Providence St. Joseph Medical Center, YMCA of Burbank and The Walt

Disney Co.

Food was donated by Burbank Kiwanis For Fun, Sunrise to Sunset

Catering, Krispy Kreme, Hometown Buffet and Nestle, USA.
