Scholarships to help local students

Share

Financially disadvantaged students attending St. Finbar and St.

Robert Bellarmine elementary schools and Bellarmine- Jefferson High

School will have part of their tuition paid by the Los Angeles-based

Catholic Education Foundation.

The foundation will give out $72,000 worth of scholarships to

benefit 66 students. To be eligible for tuition assistance, children

must come from families whose annual earnings are no more than 15%

above the Federal School Lunch Program guidelines. For example, a

single parent with two children would qualify for assistance if his

or her annual income was no more than $22,455.

The foundation also considers the child’s academic achievement,

his or her character, the family’s involvement in church and school

activities, and the recommendations of the principal at the Catholic

school which the child attends or hopes to attend.
