Woman finds burglar in tub

An old joke says that the burglar took a shower so he could make a

clean getaway, but one Burbank woman wasn’t laughing when she

allegedly found an intruder in her bathtub.

The 40-year-old woman was asleep Tuesday at her home in the 400

block of Riverside Drive when she heard noises coming from the

bathroom, police said. When she investigated, she allegedly found

22-year-old Ruben Olvera of Glendale naked, taking a bubble bath.

Police arrested Olvera on suspicion of burglary for stealing hot

water and soap. He appeared to be under the influence of a controlled

substance at the time, police said.

While the woman locked her doors and windows, Sgt. William Berry

said the intruder apparently entered through a dog door.

“It makes no sense to have good security on your windows and doors

and then have a large dog door,” he said.
