Hospital guild installs officers
The Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Guild recognition and
installation tea was June 11 at Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake.
Father James Toal gave the invocation and a blessing to
president-elect Julie McArdle for the coming year.
President Donna Mahoney welcomed provisional member Patricia
Scully as an active member and new 2003-04 provisional members Lila
Barkett, Kathleen Marsden and Irene Murgida. She also welcomed Bebe
Tamberg as a contributing member and Father Toal as an honorary
member.
Donna then presented Treasurer Pat Curtin with a plaque citing the
outstanding service she has given to the guild for 23 years. Dodee
Packard, tea chairwoman, was introduced and applauded.
President Mahoney presented Patricia Modrzejewski, executive
director of Providence Health System Foundation, with a $240,000
donation toward the guild’s pledge for a High Dose Brachytherapy
Device for Radiation Oncology. The donation represents funds raised
by the guild from its Gift Gallery and Thrift Shop and its
Fall-Spring Events for the year June 2002 through May.
Angie Scholl, the guild’s poet laureate, installed the new
executive board. They are President McArdle, First Vice President
Terri Lee, Second Vice President Lucy Brown, Treasurer Pat Curtin,
Recording Secretary Jerry Beth Delauney, Corresponding Secretary
Phyllis Raduenz, Fall Event Director Janice Khoury, Spring Event
Director Carolynn Finnegan, Special Event Director Betty McMaster and
Finance Director Josie McCurley.
Each received a hat especially decorated with her particular field
of expertise, all done with humorous commentary. Outgoing President
Donna Mahoney presented McArdle with the president’s gavel and the
key to the office.
McArdle then welcomed everyone and thanked them for their support.
Photographs were taken of the new board and refreshments were served
at the conclusion of the formal meeting.
