College producing ‘Cabaret’
“Cabaret,” with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, will be
staged for three weekends at Glendale Community College in the
Auditorium Mainstage Theatre.
The hit musical takes place in troubled 1929 Berlin at the
beginning of the Nazis’ rise to power and at the decadent Kit Kat
Klub.
Professor Ken Gray is the director. Several “Cabaret” cast members
appeared last year in the college production of “West Side Story,”
including Jeff Leatherwood, playing the central character, Cliff, and
Bonnie McMahan in the lead role of Sally Bowles. Ben Magallanes Jr.
plays the master of ceremonies and Aaron Foley portrays the Nazi
smuggler, Ernst.
Shows are at 8 p.m. on Aug. 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23 and at 2 p.m.
on Aug. 10, 17 and 24. Tickets are $15, $12 for students and seniors
and $8 each for groups of 10 or more and children 12 and younger. For
reservations, call 240-1000, ext. 5618.
