Players show their skills

With humid temperatures in the 90s, the heat was on for a group of

local softball players.

Despite the hot weather Saturday, members of the Burbank Park,

Recreation and Community Services Ponytail Softball League took part

in the annual Softball Jamboree sponsored by the Foothill Civitan

Club.

The players celebrated the end of the season with their annual

celebration, which included skills competitions, games, food and a

lot of awards.

The event came a week after the Park and Recreation boys took part

in their own Hap Minor Civitan Baseball Jamboree, also at Olive Park.

The day began at 8 a.m. with a parade from the Burbank Media City

Center Mall to the park.

In the skills competition, athletes took part in four events --

hitting for distance, throwing for accuracy, baserunning and throwing

for distance -- and won awards for their accomplishments.
