Man jumps off overpass
SOUTH SAN FERNANDO DISTRICT -- A 32-year-old Hesperia man
apparently jumped from the Verdugo Avenue overpass onto the Golden
State (5) Freeway in what police believe was a suicide.
Police were called to the scene about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, where
witnesses told them the man jumped from the overpass, landing in the
southbound lanes. He was struck by a car, but police said they
believe he died on impact with the ground. The driver of the car was
not injured.
The man’s name was not released late Tuesday because police were
still trying to locate his next-of-kin.
