RENAMING BURBANK-GLENDALE- PASADENA AIRPORT

WHAT HAPPENED

The council directed staff to send letters to the city councils of

Glendale and Pasadena encouraging support to rename the airport for

Bob Hope. They also asked staff to ask the Hope family if they are

supportive of a proposal by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) to rename

the Olive Avenue Post Office in honor of the late entertainer.

WHAT IT MEANS

To rename the airport, the city councils from the three cities

will have to vote to amend the joint powers agreement that created

the airport. A congressional resolution will need to be passed in

order to rename the post office for Hope.
