IRENE HUGHES

Irene Hughes, 79, died Sept. 11, 2003, in Burbank.

She was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Sicily, Italy, and lived in Burbank

for more than 50 years.

She was a member of the Glendale Moose Lodge.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her sister, Yolanda Guiffre; and

several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Church and

the interment followed at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.

JOSEPH E. PAPERO

Joseph E. Papero, 83, died Sept. 5, 2003, in Burbank.

He was born March 18, 1920, in Forks, N.Y., and lived in Burbank

for 46 years.

He worked as a carpenter for the city of Burbank for about 20

years.

He was also a World War II Army veteran.

Mr. Papero is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters, Barbara

Torres, Patricia Pawlak and Donna Gilpin; son, Joseph; six

grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The Mass of Christian burial was Sept. 10 at St. Finbar Catholic

Church and the interment followed at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

Valley Funeral Home was in charge of direction.

MELINDA S. SWANN

Melinda S. Swann, 47, died Sept. 11, 2003, in Burbank.

She was born Sept. 19, 1955, in Glendale and lived in Burbank for

47 years.

She worked as a waitress for three years.

Mrs. Swann is survived by her children, Garrett, Tamara and

Brianna; father, Raymond; brother, Michael; and sisters, Lorna and

Lori.
