MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH L.A. COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding

between the district and the L.A. County Office of Education for the

2003-04 school year.

WHAT IT MEANS

It provides training for teachers working toward English-language

development certification, with the cost of training not to exceed

$5,800.

APPROVAL OF VERIZON CELL-PHONE AGREEMENT

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved an agreement between the district

and Verizon Wireless.

WHAT IT MEANS

The district provides six cell phones needed for student

emergencies -- two at Burbank High for athletic events, one at

Burroughs High for athletic events, one for special-education field

trips and two cell phones retaining the numbers on signage throughout

the district for emergency notification.

STUDENT TEACHING AGREEMENT WITH CSUN

WHAT HAPPENED

The board unanimously approved an agreement between the district

and the trustees of Cal State Northridge for the purpose of providing

teaching experience through practice teaching in schools and classes

throughout the district.

WHAT IT MEANS

The state is to reimburse the district $16.67 per quarter-unit of

student teaching, for a total of $5,000. The term of the agreement

began July 1, and ends June 30.
