About 1,500 homes in Burbank without power Thursday
The lights went out for 1,534 homes Thursday after a power line
shorted.
The outage began at 2:44 p.m., when a residential feeder line
short-circuited, Burbank Water and Power officials said. Workers
restored the line at 3:34 p.m. after an inspector and a Burbank
firefighter checked the damage.
The outage affected users from Haven Way to Jamestown Road, and
from Kingsway Drive to Scott Road. What caused the power line to
short circuit was unknown Friday.
“A short circuit like this is often caused by a balloon, squirrel
or tree branch,” said Fred Fletcher, the utility’s assistant general
manager in charge of power supply. “It happens from time to time.”
