Two men were being held Friday on suspicion of stealing a new motor

home from a Burbank dealership, dropping it off in Los Angeles and

leading police on a short chase in a van.

One man allegedly stole a motor home from Metro RV at 160 W. Olive

Ave., Burbank Police Lt. Chris Welker said. The man was spotted by

Air Unit 1, piloted by Burbank Police Officer Bob Quesada and

Glendale Police Officer Bill Donley.

The air unit spotted the motor home, with one side extended,

exiting onto Riverside Drive from the southbound Golden State (5)

Freeway and stopping on Fletcher Drive, she said.

The officers watched the man get out of the motor home and get

into a waiting van, which got back onto the freeway, heading north

through Glendale. Police had units waiting for the van at Scott Road

in Burbank, and officers shut down the northbound lanes of the

freeway.

The two men are in custody on suspicion of grand theft auto, but

their names were not released Friday night pending an investigation

into similar thefts, Welker said.
