Shelley R. Rutkoske and Jesus Varela Jr., both of Aliso Viejo,

were married at Laguna Village in Laguna Beach. The Rev. Michael

Ahern officiated.

The maid of honor was Andrea Coombs and the bridesmaids were

Lynette Vaughan, Yvette Miller, Jessica Aguilar and Aide Alquijay.

The best man was Patrick Bush. The groomsmen were Robert Tauler,

David Varela, Bryan Alquijay and Donnie Mauldin.

A reception followed at Laguna Village. The couple honeymooned in

Jamaica. They will make their home in Aliso Viejo.

The bride is the daughter of Betty Rutkoske of Burbank.

The bride received her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and political

science and teaching credential from UC Irvine, where she was a

member of Delta, Delta, Delta. She earned her master’s degree in

education and received her reading specialist credential from Cal

State Fullerton. She teaches first grade in Tustin.

The groom is the son of Maria and Jesus Varela of El Centro.

The groom received his bachelor’s degree in criminology from UC

Irvine where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He is a recruiting

manager of ICN Pharmaceuticals.
