Letter campaign urges state for library money

A grass-roots letter-writing campaign is underway by Burbank library

supporters, who are asking residents to write letters to the state’s

Library Construction Committee.

The purpose of the letters is to urge the committee to give $20

million in state funds to cover two-thirds of the construction cost

of a new Central Library.

In February, Burbank voters approved Measure L, which will pay for

one-third of the Central Library cost, as well as pay for a new

Northwest Branch Library.

All letters will be sent by Federal Express to the committee on

Monday, Library Director Sharon Cohen said.

Letters should be addressed to the Library Construction Committee

and dropped off at the Buena Vista Branch Library today or Sunday, or

at the Central Library on Monday morning.

The Buena Vista Branch Library is at 300 N. Buena Vista St., and

the Central Library is at 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd.
