Student allegedly punches teacher

A 16-year-old Burbank boy was arrested Wednesday at Burbank High

School after he allegedly punched a teacher in the face.

The victim, 25-year-old Juan Uribe, was randomly searching

students at the school, at 902 N. 3rd St., when he asked the boy to

empty his bag. The boy became nervous, struck the teacher and began

flailing around, police said. The teen’s name was not released.

Police arrived and the student allegedly threw a bag of marijuana

under one of the desks and ran from the officers.

He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a school employee,

possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. The teen, who was

already on probation, was sent to Sylmar Juvenile Hall, police said.
