Three-alarm fire causes millions in damage

SOUTH SAN FERNANDO DISTRICT -- A fire late last month at the

Automotive Rebuilt building on 202 W. Palm Ave. caused almost $2.5

million in damage to the structure’s exterior and interior, fire

officials said.

The fire, which was reported at 5:39 p.m. Oct. 29, was accidental,

Burbank Fire Marshal Dave Starr said.

“The fire was caused from smoking material -- a discarded

cigarette or something like that,” Starr said.

Some damage was also done to Modern Video, a neighboring business.

The fire caused about $1.1 million in damage to the building and $1.3

million in damage to equipment, officials said. The flames spread

over 12,000 square feet.

The fire was extinguished in about an hour and no one was hurt,

officials said.
