WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

WHERE: Memorial Field at Burroughs High.

RECORDS: The Bulldogs are 5-4, 1-3 in league; the Indians are 4-5,

1-3.

LAST WEEK: Burbank lost to Valencia, 56-17; Burroughs lost to

Canyon, 44-7.

LAST YEAR: Burroughs defeated Burbank, 43-31.

OUTLOOK: This is one the most highly anticipated cross-town

rivalry games in some time. For the first time in years, the winner

could have a chance at a CIF Southern Section Division II playoff

berth -- because of the strength of the Foothill League. Both teams

have had just one league win -- both coming against Saugus. Burbank

broke one long-standing streak this season when it beat Saugus to

break a 51-game league winless string. On Friday, Burbank will be

attempting to beat its rival for the first time in 11 tries. The

Indians are led by sophomore running back Thomas Kyle, who can be

dangerous. If the game is close, the Indians have a valuable weapon

in junior kicker James Cullen, who has a strong leg. The Bulldog

offense is paced by quarterback Mike McDonald and receiver Jesse

Ayers. Junior running back Tanner Bennett could also give Burroughs

problems. However, a tough Indian defense could make the difference,

as Burroughs tries to make it 11 in a row.

SOMETHING INTERESTING: Over the years, Burroughs has outscored

Burbank, 1,167-791.
