Police memorial act gets funds

Share

A federal fund to assist communities in building law-enforcement

memorials might receive $250,000 in grants, Rep. Adam Schiff

(D-Burbank) announced recently.

The money for the Law Enforcement Act fund, secured by Schiff for

the 2004 fiscal year, has been appropriated by the House of

Representatives. The Senate will take up the measure in January.

The money goes to assist communities in building law enforcement

memorials.

Schiff introduced the legislation and was inspired by the Glendale

Police Officers Assn.’s effort to raise funds to build a memorial for

Charles A. Lazzaretto, a Glendale Police officer killed in a shootout

in 1997.
