City touts bike master plan
The City Council has voted unanimously to adopt a Bicycle Master Plan
that will outline a vision for bike paths in the city.
The plan, approved by the council Dec. 9, will help engineers and
urban planners connect bicycle paths to similar paths and
transportation facilities, and reduce traffic congestion and air
pollution, officials said in a staff report.
An approved master plan means the city is now eligible for funding
for bicycle transportation projects from the California Department of
Transportation.
It also ensures that future transportation decisions by the city
take into account bicycle travel.
