Burbank sweeps to victories

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Burbank 88, Hoover 47: Paced by Carolyn Chrzan, the host Bulldogs

won the nonleague meet Wednesday at Burroughs High.

Chrzan was a double winner, finishing first in the 100 meters in

13.36 seconds and the 200 in 28.11.

Other Burbank winners included Randi Gilbert in the discus

(78-feet-10), Blanca Collazo in the 100 hurdles (19.24), Tabatha

Crawford in the pole vault (7-6), Carolina Valle in the 300 hurdles

(56.12), Claire Bent in the 1,600 (5:52), Amanda Browne in the 400

(1:08.0) and Nelly Shamirian in the 3,200 (13:13).

Burbank 83, Hoover 53: The host Bulldogs benefited from two wins

each from Chris Massey and Preston Richardson on Wednesday in a

nonleague meet at Burroughs High.

Massey captured the 100 in 11.6 seconds and the 200 in 24.1 and

Preston Richardson was first in the 800 in 2:12 and the 3,200 in

10:40.

BOYS’ GOLF

Canyon 398, Burbank 401: Despite a fine performance from Con

O’Connor, the Bulldogs were defeated Thursday in a nonleague match at

De Bell Municipal Golf Course.

O’Connor captured low-medalist honors by firing a three-over-par

74. Andy Mouron shot a 77, Ben Lees had an 80, John Goglia had an

84, Matt Chrzan had an 86 and Steve Moss had a 92 for Burbank (2-3).

Burbank 212, San Gabriel 247: Bulldog Andy Mouron captured

low-medalist honors Tuesday with a nonleague victory at De Bell

Municipal Golf Course.

Mouron fired a five-over-par 40 to finish ahead of teammate Matt

Chrzan and San Gabriel’s Ralph Mencheca, who both shot 41s.

Ben Lees and Steve Moss shot 43s and Dan Park had a 45.

San Marino 185, Burroughs 202: The Indians evened their season

record at 4-4 Thursday with a nonleague loss at Santa Anita Golf

Course.

Jeff Looby shot a one-under-par 35, Troy Fleiner had a 40, Austin

Radaker had a 41, Mitchell Johnson had a 42 and Paul Lundquist and

David Hamanaka had 44s for Burroughs.

Saugus 399, Burroughs 392: The host Indians lost to their Foothill

League foe Tuesday in a nonleague match at De Bell Municipal Golf

Course.

Mitchell Johnson of Burroughs and Nick Delio of Saugus (3-6) tied

for low-medalist honors by shooting five-over-par 76s.

For the Indians, Jeff Looby, Austin Radaker and Ray Batarina shot

77s, David Hamanaka had an 85 and Paul Lundquist had an 86.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Burbank 123, San Gabriel 45: Eric Davis had a hand in four wins

Tuesday as the Bulldogs earned a nonleague victory on the road.

Davis was first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.1 seconds) and the

100 freestyle (51:01) and teamed with Brandon Ullo, David Nelson and

Soo Ho Park to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.85) and paired with

Park, Armen Assadourian and Aram Simonian to win the 400 freestyle

relay (3:38.06).

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Burbank 90, San Gabriel 63: Catalina Casas, Jenny Austin and Megan

Wilson all won three events each Tuesday in the Bulldogs’ nonleague

win on the road.

Casas won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes 15.07 seconds) and the

100 butterfly (1:11.56), Austin won the 50 freestyle (27.65) and the

100 freestyle (101.50) and Wilson won the 500 freestyle (6:22.97) and

the 100 backstroke (1:21.53).
