James Roeske, 14, and Emily Roeske, 12, of Burbank were awarded their
second-degree black belts in American Freestyle Karate at Burbank
Family Martial Arts.
The pair has been practicing martial arts together for more than
nine years. Their martial-arts skills have won them several national
and world championships, as well as commercial, television and movie
roles.
Both youngsters had roles in the Tri-Star Pictures’ “3 Ninjas:
High Noon at Mega Mountain,” and Emily displayed her skills in
commercials for McDonald’s. She also appeared as Sophie in the Disney
Channel original movies “Halloweentown” and “Halloweentown 2 --
Kalabar’s Revenge.” She will reprise her role in the spring for the
third installment of the series, “Halloweentown 3.”
Colin Michael Cochran of La Canada Flintridge has been named to
the dean’s list at University of Oregon. The student is a senior
majoring in history.
Two students have graduated from the University of Oregon.
David V. Moore of Glendale received his doctorate of
jurisprudence, law. Heidi Katherine Snyder of Glendale received her
bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Nathan Paul, the son of Darren and Valerie Paul of Castaic and
grandson of Rose Powers of Burbank, was named an All-American Scholar
by the U.S. Achievement Academy.
Kyong Hun Choi of Glendale received a bachelor’s degree in
business management from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
Christian Canas of Glendale made the dean’s list at Columbia
University’s Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of
Engineering and Applied Science.
The student is a graduate of Hoover High School.
Eric Eliot Schnitger of Glendale was awarded a bachelor’s degree
from Bowdoin College in Maine. He was a physics major with a minor
in mathematics. Schnitger is a graduate of Hoover High School.
