SIDEYARD VARIANCE DENIED

WHAT HAPPENED

The council denied a resident’s request for a sideyard setback

variance.

WHAT IT MEANS

On the second go-around before the council, a resident in the 1000

block of East Magno- lia Boulevard was denied a sideyard setback

variance for not having the required five feet between the home and

property line. The resident was ordered to stop construction on his

two-story home.

VOTE

The council denied the motion 5-0.

IDLING TRUCKS PROHIBITED

WHAT HAPPENED

The Council passed an ordinance against truck idling.

WHAT IT MEANS

The ordinance prohibits semi-trailers with sleeping cabs within

the city limits, and limits semis, transit buses, and motor coaches

from idling more than five minutes.

VOTE

The council unanimously approved the measure.
